Obsidian Theatre Company is passionately dedicated to the exploration,development and production of the Black voice.
We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic youth ages 15 to 23 with a interest in Theatre and Playwrighting.
Obsidian is offering paid Shards positions as part of the 2010-11 season. Selected participants will be given the opportunity to
develop playwrighting skills alongside noted Obsidian Theatre company members. The Shards Program is a playwright unit for
black youth who have an interest in writing and a curiosity about the arts. No experience needed - just a willingness to learn.
Participants will work with a professional mentor/dramaturge as well as with some of the finest theatre professionals in the Toronto
community. This is a three-month long commitment commencing January 2012 and ending April
2012.
The Program aims to help youth develop writing skills and provide a unique vehicle for artistic expression.
Submission Guidelines:
Submissions must be in no later Monday December 29th 2011.
Applicants:
- Applicants must identify as a member of the black community.
- Applicants must be attending school
- Applicants must be committed and willing to attend every meeting
